Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Tag Team has two new champions, defeating Deonna Purrazzo, Chelsea Green Taya Valkyrie and Rosemary to become Emergence’s new Knockouts Tag Team champions. Purrazzo and Green have always wanted to be a Tag Team, and during their time in WWE they moved it but the idea was dropped for somewhat silly reasons. Since they both returned to Impact, there has been some teasing about the possibility of collaborating as a team, but that hasn’t happened before recently. They’ve now claimed the gold medal title as a team, and Purrazzo broke down why it was time to finally collect VXT in Impact Wrestling and even made a shout out to the current NXT 2.0 team in a new interview with MuscleManMalcom.
“It’s a dream come true for me and Chelsea to finally see VXT in real life,” said Purrazzo. “We always joked that we were the greatest tag team that didn’t really exist, and we actually are now.”
Purrazzo also addressed the Knockouts Tag Team division in general, revealing two current Impact stars she hopes to see as a Tag Team team. She also highlighted the tag team in NXT 2.0 as well as Gisele Shaw.
“I think our Knockouts brand division has grown,” Purrazzo said. “We’ve kind of seen The Influence dissolve, so I’m interested to see what Gisele does next, and who sort of becomes a new tag team. I’d like to see Killer Kelly and Masha work on the tag team. Do you know who I also love on NXT? Valentina And the [Yulisa] Freaking awesome! I love their energy and love that they are so proud of their heritage and they put it out there and unite, both of them together.”
Both Purrazzo and Green offered to be part of the Tag Team during NXT, but were told that being close friends doesn’t mean you’re a Tag Team. They would end up leaving the company and would meet at Impact, although they wouldn’t collaborate right away. Now VXT is officially here, and it will be interesting to see who their next competitors are and how long they can hold those championship titles.
